Meet the Team: Shawn O’Donaghue, Community Lead.
We continue our series with someone who’s been on the social media frontline talking to you guys on Telegram, Discord, and Reddit every day — our Comms Lead, Shawn.
Talk about what you do in your role at Taraxa?
I’m the US Community Lead, which basically means I head all of the communities besides China, which we have an awesome dedicated Community Manager for. I’ve been working at Taraxa for a year and a half now, and I do lots of things — from responding to questions on Telegram, to talking to companies & stakeholders regarding partnerships.
What have you been up to before getting into blockchain?
Honestly, not a whole lot! Following college, I worked at a traditional digital marketing firm as a Social Media intern for about three months before landing my first job in the blockchain space at Blockonomics — a distributed payment processing platform for crypto.
I’ve had the pleasure of working on over 15+ blockchain projects as a community manager in different niches and sizes.

How did you come to join Taraxa?
Following the market crash in 2018, there weren’t a lot of job opportunities in the space at the time. So I simply worked as a Community Manager for an agency weathering out the storm, as I tried to make my move to an in-house position.
In 2019, projects seemed to begin building again and it’s when I (thankfully) got introduced to Taraxa, where I joined the project when it was mostly still in stealth mode and never looked back! :)
